Dance 1: Ballet (Beginner)
Discover Your Inner Ballerina
Feel elegant and empowered as you learn to move with grace, control, and refinement. No matter what style of dance you study (or none!), this class will enhance your presentation and deepen your connection to your body. Ballet is the building block for nearly every style of dance, creating harmonious lines with the arms and legs, from tips of fingers to toes!
We’ll start with the basics, covering Ballet principles, terminology, positions, posture, and movements. As building blocks are established, new habits will appear - strength, posture, and balance will improve. You might enter class feeling human, but you will exit - a joyful dancer!
Great for absolute beginners to get started and good for experienced dancers to perfect their technique, all levels welcome.

Maggi Soluna
A passionate life-long dancer, performer, instructor, and producer, Maggi is in love with spreading and sharing the art of dance. As an instructor, students appreciate her attention to detail and structure. Maggi is also endlessly encouraging, and generous with sharing her extensive knowledge. Her inclusive philosophy opens inspiration to anyone who is inclined to embrace her techniques and teaching!
Starting dance at age 4, Maggi grew up in the world of Ballet, Modern, and Jazz, while also dabbling in Hip-Hop, Tap, West African, and Belly Dance. Maggi has been teaching and training dancers for over 18 years.
Beyond her role as an instructor, Maggi is skilled as an organizer and producer. As Hip Expressions Studio Manager, she effortlessly juggles the studio schedule, classes, events, and boutique. She coordinates easily with instructors and staff for a seamless customer service experience, to help create the cozy, safe atmosphere that Hip Expressions is known for.
Maggi joined Hip Expressions in 2017, taking and teaching classes, and performing in shows. This renaissance woman also directs and produces her own vaudeville cabaret troupe, Cannonball Cabaret, performing and producing shows several times a year. Then Hip Expressions gets to guest appear in HER shows!
Don’t be surprised if you also see her around town as a stilt walker, at Hip Ex events or at a variety of festivals and fairs. Truly a pirate at heart, we offer a hearty huzzah to our skilled team member, Maggi!
